Education

Dr. Ryan works from a neuro-relational psychoanalytic framework and is heavily influenced by Attachment Theory and neurobiology. Treatment is informed by these theories using a sensory motor psychotherapy approach which includes breathwork, mindfulness, body awareness, psychoeducation, and learning self-regulation skills in a therapeutic setting that is safe, supportive, and compassionate. This approach has been successful in treating anxiety and mood disorders, substance abuse, and trauma. Together, we will work in a collaborative partnership during your healing journey.

Dr. Ryan has worked at a non-profit multi-service agency serving children, youth and families involved in the child welfare system and juvenile justice for over two decades as a clinician, supervisor, administrator, trainer, and consultant. He is the Board President at the Institute of Contemporary Psychoanalysis and Advisor to the Board at the Association of Children’s Residential and Communities. Dr. Ryan enjoys walking his dogs, spending time with family, traveling, painting, and attending professional conferences and seminars.
